“Jessica, Tale of a Caged Bird” 3 panels a/c 71 x 48" , 2018
This painting celebrates Jessica, a young, single mother of two.
She very graciously allowed me to use her image as the monolith in my story.
I wanted my story to speak to the recent women’s voices raised during the Covid-19 lockdown against sexual violence and intimidation.
This painting echoes Klimt's Lady With A Fan" which brings to mind the courtesan as depicted in art history where trappings of luxury obscure a more darker truth of despair and social isolation.
